BUILDING BRIDGES

Building Bridges for Brighter Futures: The Building Bridges for Brighter Futures program is available to expectant mothers and families with children from birth to age 5 who reside in School District 146. Funded by a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education, the Bridges program focuses on serving the whole family in partnership with the community. It addresses the individual needs of children and their families by providing a network of support and learning opportunities. Some of the programs and services Bridges offers at no cost include:

  • A pre-kindergarten readiness classroom for ages 3 to 5
  • Child and parent play groups for ages birth to 3
  • Home-based activities for ages birth to 3
  • Frequent developmental screenings
  • Parent education classes
  • Special events and social gatherings
  • Field trips
  • A book and toy lending library
  • Parent support groups
  • Linkage to community resources and agencies.
