COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

Providing a safe and secure educational environment is a top priority of Community Consolidated School District 146. All district facilities meet federal, state and local regulations. School District 146 takes pride in the close, collaborative relationship that has developed with the emergency service responders of the communities we serve. Examples of our continued commitment to safety are:

  • Safety Clerks- Each school has a safety clerk on duty. Safety Clerks monitor and record all who enter and leave the schools. Safety Clerks also issue passes to all building visitors, check for appropriate identification of anyone picking up a student during the school day, monitor the school security system and often is the pleasant voice that answers the school phone.

  • Background Checks- All volunteers for school activities must undergo a criminal background check. In addition to the criminal background check, all employees of the district must  undergo a fingerprint check conducted by local law enforcement before being hired

  • Crisis Response Plans- The District has developed and continually revisits its Crisis Response Plans. Detailed plans have been designed to respond to various crisis situations. The goal is to provide for the safety of all students and staff and maintain a leadership structure that provides timely and accurate communication to our parents and communities.

  • Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Devices- are available in all district buildings. an AED is a portable automatic device used to restore normal heart rhytm to people in cardiac arrest. It is a life-saving device because cardiac arrest is a sudden condition that is fatal if not treated within a few minutes. Many staff members have been trained in their use.

  • Drills and Inspections- Fire, tornado and other emergency drills/inspections are held, in compliance with State and Federal regulations, throughout the year in conjunction with Tinley Park, Orland Park and Oak Forest authorities.

  • Transportation- Bus Evacuation drills are held on a yearly basis in cooperation with our transportation providers.

Community Consolidated School District 146 recognizes it's responsibilities each day for our most vital resource, the children of our communities. The Board, administrators and staff take pride in keeping safety among it's priorities.
