The District 146 Band program has a rich history of music excellence throughout the community. The students take pride in their accomplishments and dedication to the organization by their hard work and efforts. Band students participate annually in the Illinois Music Educators Association District Band Festival, the Illinois Grade School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Contest and the Illinois Grade School Music Association Organization Band Contest, in which they have received consecutive Division I ratings over the past three decades. In 1990 the Symphonic Band won the University of Illinois Superstate Contest in Champagne/Urbana, Illinois and was invited back to perform in 1991 as the honors band.
The District 146 Bands have also toured and performed in the following locations: Toronto, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Chicago, Nashville, White Sox Park, Orlando and Cleveland. In addition, the band has participated in clinics with music professors at the following universities: University of Michigan, Indiana University, Illinois State University, Northwestern University, Purdue University and Oberlin College.
