Art

Computer Art 7 and Computer Drawing 7: 7th Grade
Students will learn how to apply the design process to a variety of projects by taking their ideas from concept to completion. They will build critical thinking skills through the analysis of their work. Students will learn about creating exciting and professional computer graphics / designs using "Corel Draw" software while building computer skills. Projects are based on the elements and principles of design, and may include perspective room design, perspective city design, surrealism, computer line art, magazine cover layout, poster design, digital photo manipulation, abstract art, CD covers, and introduction to building a digital portfolio. Students will find this to be a highly useful and fun course for the future.

Computer Graphics 8 and Computer Animation 8: 8th Grade
Students will apply the design process to a variety of interdisciplinary art projects by taking their ideas from concept to completion. They will build critical thinking skills through conceptualizing and analyzing their work. Students will learn about creating exciting and professional computer graphics / designs using "Corel PhotoPaint" and "Corel R.A.V.E." software while building technology skills. Projects are based on the elements and principles of design, and may include a digital photo collage, photomontage, surrealism, website design, and computer animation. Students will find the content of this course to be a highly useful as they continue on with art or technology courses in the future.

Art 1 - Drawing and Design: 6th Grade
Students learn the principles of design through a variety of projects. Basic Drawing techniques are introduced through the creation of abstract design, a perspective city drawing and an art history-based PowerPoint presentation. Art 1 and 2 focus on the development of skills in creative problem solving, self-expression and visual communication while introducing the students to a variety of media, techniques and ideas. Each project includes an element of understanding/critical thinking, craftsmanship (neatness, use of media) and creativity (illustration of original thought and expression of ideas).

Art 2 - Color: 6th Grade
This is a nine week course for 6th Grade students that covers color and the color wheel.  Students will learn how to mix and apply tempera paint.  Students will also work with clay.  They will learn 3 methods of hand building and complete a ceramic animal.  Finally, they will be introduced to the Elements of Deisgn.

Art III:
Open to 7th Grade students, this course will include the opportunity to work with ceramics, drawing, painting, and other art medium.

Art IV:
Open to 8th Grade students, this course will include a study of advanced ceramic techniques, 3D design with papier-mache, painting and work with other art medium.
