RE - Career Exploration
What do I want to
be when I grow up? Why do I need to think about it now?
This 9 week class is an introduction to the world of work.
Students will be able to explore their options and plan for
their future by identifying their key values, skills and
abilities and the career opportunities that may be a perfect
match. Students will learn tips on finding and applying for
a job, and workplace expectations. A lesson on managing
your money once the paychecks begin will also be included.
F & CS Module:
This course is a
high-energy interactive experience. With its intuitive
design, this multimedia CD-ROM lets students navigate easily
through the program. It addresses multiple learning styles,
and even features on-demand audio. It is the perfect
balance of multimedia, text, and hands-on problem-solving
for the Home Economics student. These modules include units
in Child Care, Interior Design, Apparel and Textile Design,
Nutrition, Consumer Services, Banking, Hospitality and
Tourism, and Community Support Services.
Clothing and Textiles:
Students will study
hand sewing, patterns, operating a sewing machine, and
wardrobe selection and care. Students will complete their
own pillow project.
Healthful Eating:
Students will learn
how to evaluate their diet, demonstrate proper food
preparation techniques for simple recipes, use correct table
settings, and follow etiquette for informal situations.
