O.R.E.
(Opportunities and Resources for Enrichment)

Mrs.
Kasper
District 146 is committed to providing
support to the classroom teacher in meeting the enrichment
and acceleration needs of all students. As such, the O.R.E.
program is guided by the philosophy that all students need
a challenging, rigorous and enriched curriculum. The
philosophy that guides the services of O.R.E. to all, but
especially to gifted and talented students is:
We believe that our gifted and talented
populations must be identified and enriched so that
equitable resources will be allocated
to maximize student
potential. We believe that these students must receive
differentiated programming within an appropriate
educational setting which addresses academic, social, and
emotional needs. We believe their programs must encourage
active participation of parents, students, teachers and
administrators.
O.R.E. Facilitators – December 2006
As a result of collaboration between the
classroom teacher and the ORE facilitator, able learners
receive services. The acceleration and enrichment
considered are based on individual profiles and
pre-assessment data. The outcomes of this collaboration
will utilize curriculum, activities, and services which:
-
Develop
the talent potentials of young people by systematically
assessing their strengths; providing enrichment
opportunities, resources, and encouragement to develop
their strengths
-
Uses a
flexible approach to grouping, curricular
differentiation, and school time.
-
Develops student independence through engaged learning.
-
Provides programs in the academic areas of Literacy and
Mathematics that are designed to help meet the social,
emotional, and educational needs of gifted and talented
students.
