Twisters take 2nd place at SWIC softball tournament

The Central Middle School girls softball team concluded an exceptional season on Friday, Oct. 2. The Twisters beat Grissom in the semi-finals, coming back from 0-3 in the third to win 7-3!

They had “solid defense, pitching and batting,” said coach Laura Tuffs.

The team went on to play Jerling for the championship Friday evening.

“The game against Jerling was tough,” Tuffs said. “We had some stellar aggressive defensive plays by Riley Schultz and pitching from Lilli McGlothlin was great, but wasn't enough to pull ahead.”

The Twisters lost 5-10 in the championship game. But their record holds strong at 13-1. They placed first in the regular season SWIC and second in the tournament.

“These girls are a fantastic bunch who represent CMS in the highest regard. We are very proud!” Tuffs said.

The team will be honored at an upcoming Tinley Park Board meeting.
