Introduction/Questions and the Task/Process/Resources/Evaluation/Conclusion

Overview

Children will learn about community helpers by visiting various websites on the Internet.  This is a Social Studies webquest for Early Childhood students with the assistance of their teacher.

Introduction

Your teacher wants to set up the classroom like a community and needs your help.  You and your teacher are going to look at some websites to find out what community helpers do and then plan out the classroom.

Quest(ions) and the Task

Who are community helpers?  What do they do?  Do they work with special equipment?  Answer these questions to find out what things you need in the classroom to help you pretend to be a community helper.

Process

Look at the websites below with your teacher and help her list the answers to the questions about community helpers.  Then talk with all your classmates and your teacher and decide which community helpers you will pretend to be and what objects you will need.

Resources

Other resources may include books that your Media Center or Librarian can set aside for you or books your teacher may bring into the classroom for you.

Evaluation

Your teacher will be very happy if you listen closely and raise your hand when you have an idea for the classroom.

Conclusion

I hope you had fun learning about community helpers and will remember what you learned when you are pretending to be community helpers.
