Introduction
Have you ever wanted to travel to another country?
Well
here is your chance! You will be researching information on
one specific country. Keep track of the information you find
on your note cards. Make sure that you also keep track of
the sources you use. Citing sources is a required part
of your project, and using information from a source
without citing or giving credit is PLAGIARISM!
You need to research or find information on each country
corresponding to the five themes of geography. The five
themes are Location, Place, Movement, Region, and
Human/Environment Interaction.
Task
You will be creating a brochure on one specific country.
This brochure will include information on the five themes of
geography. Your brochure will have a 6 columns, 3 on the
back and three on the front. The first column or page of
your brochure will be your title page. This will include the
name of your country, a graphic and your name.
Process
Begin by creating your note cards so that you are
ready to
record any information you find. Include a card for each of
the five themes and one for sources. (A title card is good
too!) Search the Geography Sites for information on your
country. Then record the information you find on your cards.
Make sure you record the information you find in the
corresponding theme. For example, if your country is India
and you find out it is on the continent of Asia, you would
record that information on the card for Location. Also, do
not forget to cite your sources!!
After you have located all the required information you can
search for graphics to include on your brochure. Save these
graphics by using the following steps:
1. Right click on the graphic.
2. Click on "Save Image As".
3. Go to your Y-Drive.
4. Name the image so you can find it, then save!
You are now reading to begin creating your document in
Word by using the following steps:
1. Go to file and click "New".
2. Go to file and click "Page Setup".
In "Page Setup" do the following:
-click "Margins" and change top,
bottom, left, and right margins
to .25
-click "Paper Size" and change the
orientation to "Landscape"
-click "OK"
-click "Ignore" (if it appears)
3. Go to Format then click "Columns"
-click "Three"
-click "OK"
4. Once on your document hold down the keys
"Control", "Shift", and "Enter" at the same
time. DO THIS FIVE TIMES ONLY!!
5. Save your document to your Y Drive!
6. Always REMEMBER that Column 6 on Page 2
is the front page of your brochure! (This is
because of the way the document prints out.)
