Introduction
We have been learning about animals.
You know that animals are divided into groups called classifications.
Now it is time for you to research an animal of your choice. You
will use books, magazines, and the internet to find out information on
your animal. We will work together as a class to make an animal ABC
book to share our knowledge with others.
After researching your animal using the resources below, your task will be to make one page for our ABC book. You will write about your animal and include a picture to share your information.
You will find lots of books and magazines to look at in the reading corner. They will help you to decide on an animal and learn more about it for your research.
Enchanted Learning is a web site that will help you to search the world wide web to find information about your animal. When you get there type in your animals name in the search box. There should be several links to other sites.
Ganders Academy is a web site where you can find more animal related resources on the world wide web. When you get there click on the group your animal is in and you will find a list of animals to learn more about.
eNature.com is a web site from the National Audubon Society. They have on line field guides for over 4800 species. Again you will need to click on the group your animal belongs to. If you can't find your animal, you can also do a search here.
Animal Omnibus is a great site to visit to get more information on animals. You might need help finding your animal, so ask an adult to help you.
A fun place to play a listening game and
learn even more about animals is a site called Night
Sounds. You will have to listen carefully to find out which animal
is talking.
First you will need to decide on an animal to research. Start by
looking at the books and magazines in the reading corner.
After you have picked an animal, learn more about it using these books
and magazines. You will learn more when we go to the computer lab
together to visit the different sites listed above. Be sure to use
the research worksheets from your teacher to keep notes on important information.
Now you are ready to begin working on a rough draft of your animal's page.
You will need a picture and some information from your research worksheet.
When you have finished your rough draft, meet with your teacher for final
editing.
Finally, we are ready to type our information in the computer lab.
We will do this step together.
HAVE FUN!!!
Your animal page should include all the parts listed on the rubric handed out by the teacher.
Now that we have each completed our page we will put them together into our ABC Animal Book. Everybody will get their own copy of the book.
Congratulations! You have just completed
your Webquest project.
Well done!
