Do you collect cards?
Wouldn't it be nice if our
library had cards of your favorite books?
Task
Your job is to create a book
card of a book that you have recently read.
Your card will include:

Process
Step 1: Read
a book written by an author that you like. This book should follow
your teacher's specifications for this project.
Step 2: Print
out blank card by clicking here. Follow
the steps below to complete your book card. This will be turned into your
teacher.
Step 3: Research
the author of your book. Use the author resources listed above and
take notes on a separate piece of paper. Find at least four of the
following:

a picture of your author
-
date of birth
-
family background
-
education
-
interesting facts
-
other books written by this
author
-
awards
Step 4: Search
for a picture or graphic related to your book. It should be eye-catching
and represent a main idea in your book. Other students may want to
read this book based on your choice.
To save the picture or graphic
that you find, follow the steps below:

Save the picture to your "y"
drive.

Open MS Word and insert your
saved picture on a blank page.

Print your page and you will
be able to cut it out and paste it on your final report.
Step 5: Complete
report to turn in. Use black or blue ink. This should be completed
neatly.

Title/Author - Print
the title and author. The title should be a little larger than the
author's name.

Setting - Include when
and where the book takes place.
-
Main Character - Name
the key character in your book and list one adjective that best describes
that character.

Important Event - Write
two to three sentences describing an event in the story that made you want
to keep reading to find out what happens next.

Rate Your Book - Choose
a book rating based on "4" being the best and "1" being the worst book
you've ever read.

Reader Review - Write something
here describing your feeling about the book. Make it descriptive.
Your comment may be chosen to be placed on our school website.

Graphic - Paste your graphic
in this spot. Add a caption to explain the picture you chose.

Author's Corner - Decide
what you want to include from your research and write it here.
Evaluation
Your grade will be based
on:
-
completing all sections of your
book card
-
neatness
-
creativity
-
mechanics (spelling, punctuation,
etc.)
Conclusion
Reading enriches everyone's
lives. Sharing your favorite books with your classmates will encourage
them to read a variety of books.
