1. Choose your diary size (8 1/2 x 11-full page or 5 1/2 x 8 1/2- half page).
2. Crumple the paper and flatten it out to make it appear old. (If you mist it with water and iron it, it will soften the paper and make it look even older).
3. Using a hole punch, punch holes into the pages for the diary. If you do this before writting, you will know where to write so that the words will not be in the margin.
4. Write each entry in cursive on a separate piece of paper.
5. Gather materials to make your book.
6. Measure and cut 2 pieces of cardboard ONE inch larger than your paper size. (Full - 9 1/2 x 12 or Half - 6 1/2 x 9 1/2)
- Corragated cardboard (empty boxes work well)
- Brown paper grocery bag
- hole punch or hammer and nail
- twine or string
- glue
- ruler
7. Measure and cut 2 pieces of paper bag TWO inches larger than your paper size. (Full - 10 1/2 x 13 or Half - 7 1/2 x 10 1/2)
8. Crumple the paper bag and flatten it out to give it an aged appearance.
9. Cover each piece of cardboard with a piece of paper bag.
10. Cut 2 additional piecces of paper bag 1/2 inch smaller than your cardboard. (Full - 9 x 11 1/2 or Half 6 x 9)
11. Glue these pieces to the inside of the covers to hide the glued edges.
12. Line up the 2 covers with the insides touching. Use the hole punch or hammer and nail to put holes into the covers.

Carefully thread the twine through the cover and the pages.
