
Introduction
You will become an inventor in this project. You will learn
about inventors and inventions from the past. The scientific method
will be used as you progress through the unit. You will
begin by studying simple machines and progress to more complex
machines. You will also construct a more complex machine.

1. To begin this project you will go on a Scavenger hunt- Answer the questions and print responses. Inventors and inventions
2. The next step will be to learn
about inventors. Go to Invention
Dimension Inventor of
the week- Archives- letter of alphabet assigned by teacher.
Student then picks an inventor
from the list. Write a short biographical
sketch on their inventor.
Name the inventor, the
invention, and the impact on the world.
3. Simple machines - what are they

4. Construct a complex machine using
K'NEX using different simple machines such as a pulley, plane,
lever, etc.( and other materials as needed)

l. Go the the Scavenger hunt and follow the directions. When you have completed the 10 questions, print out the results and give to teacher.
2. Go to Invention Dimension and research an inventor.
3. Study simple machines- use Simple Machines or Inventor's toolbox to learn about simple machines.
4. Use the K'nex and other materials to construct a complex
machine. Share with your class.
The evaluation will consist of a presentation of the complex
machine you built.
