About the Technology Department
District 146 is committed to the creation of digital classrooms for our digital students. One of the main elements in making this vision real and easily accessible for all learners is the fact that all buildings in district 146 are wireless. Wireless technology breaks down the walls of the classroom and allows for anytime, anywhere learning.
In addition to being wireless, our digital classrooms contain a projector, a tablet, laptops, an ELMO, a digital still camera, a digital video camera, and the software necessary for students, born into the digital age, to learn and share their learning through the digital projects they create. The district is working towards the ultimate goal of making all classrooms in the district digital classrooms in the very near future.
The district also employs two instructional technology specialists who plan with teachers on a daily basis and provide on-going, just-in-time staff development as they work with teachers to implement the technology-enriched plans that have been developed. District 146 focuses upon student learning- “what will students be doing?” as we create professional development opportunities. These workshops and seminars keep the focus of our curriculum maps in the forefront so that learning is meaningful, timely and rich in opportunities.
We are fortunate to host a community technology forum every February where our parents and community members help stretch our thinking so that we provide the very best digital learning atmosphere for our learners. We are proud of our students’ use of technology and our commitment to engaging opportunities for all learners in District 146.
