Social Media Guidelines
District 146’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, are used to showcase District and school activities, achievements, and events to the public. Civil, on-topic comments and questions are welcome on the District’s various social media pages. District posts and public comments on District pages become public record.
The District’s social media accounts are not a public forum. Public comments and posts to District pages are reviewed and, while not edited by the District, may be deleted or hidden if they violate these social media guidelines. Frequent offenders may be blocked from the District’s social media pages.
Posts that violate the guidelines below, the privacy of others, or Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities may be hidden or deleted.
Additional violations include, but are not limited to:
- Personal attacks or insults that name or allude to a specific person or a specific group
- Posts or comments that include personally identifiable medical information
- Posts or comments with profanity or vulgarity
- Posts or comments that bully, intimidate, or harass
- Content that is hateful, threatening, pornographic, or contains violence or depictions of drugs
- Any post that is unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory
- Business and political advertisements
- Spam or links to other sites
- Information that may compromise the safety or security of any person
District 146 is not responsible for content posted by others. The comments and opinions expressed by the public do not reflect those of the District or its employees. Information shared with or posted to official District pages by the public is also subject to the terms of service of the host site.
