The District 146 Board of Education held a Budget Hearing on September 14 immediately preceding the Board’s regular monthly meeting. Jeff Charleston, Business Director and CSBO, presented the final budget for Fiscal Year 2027.
Following an opportunity for Board questions and public comment, the Budget Hearing adjourned and the September meeting was called to order.

- The CMS Band held a successful summer camp that culminated in a National Anthem performance at a Chicago White Sox game and a concert held at the school.
- Per Illinois Public Acts 96-0434 and 97-0609, salaries for administrators and IMRF employee packages over $75,000 have been published on the District’s website.

- Mr. Charleston informed the Board that although there were some busing issues at the beginning of the school year, they have been resolved. All the District’s routes have assigned drivers and have been running on time for the most part.
- Director of Technology Vern Bettis explained changes to the District Technology Support Team that will improve efficiency and result in a cost savings.
- Teachers’ Union President Eileen Von Borstel said schools are already busy with softball and cross country beginning at the middle school and clubs being planned and starting at the elementary schools. Staff at the buildings have been introducing students and staff to the new year with events, fun videos, and special class projects.
