The Board of Education met on Monday, November 10 for its Regular Monthly Meeting. The meeting was held in the Media Center at Central Middle School.
The Board heard the following from Superintendent Dr. Jeff Stawick:
- November 15 is designated as School Board Member Day in the State of Illinois. Dr. Stawick thanked District 146 Board members for volunteering their time and service to the school community.
- District 146 schools will be in session on Veterans Day. Assemblies are held at each school giving students an opportunity to thank and honor our veterans.
- A district-wide food drive is being held through November 14. Items can be dropped off at the Administration Center or any District 146 school.
- The Joint Annual Conference will be held November 21-23. Board Members received information from the District about the conference.
- Members of the custodial and maintenance team worked hard beginning at 2 a.m. to assure the buildings were cleared of snow and ice so staff and students could attend school safely on Monday.
- November 17 through 21 is American Education Week. Dr. Stawick thanked all District 146 staff for their dedication to students, families, and the District..
- Kelly Voliva has been named Assistant Superintendent. She will continue to lead the student services department.
The Board also heard the following:
- Eileen Von Borstel, president of the teachers union, updated the Board on events and activities occurring at each of the schools.
- Jeff Charleston, Director of Business and CSBO, presented the Preliminary Tax Levy. The Board will be asked to take action at the December meeting.
The Board took the following action at the meeting:
- Approved administrator contracts for Fiscal Year 2026.
The Board also met in Closed Session to discuss personnel matters.
